Oak Hill homes over $500k
Oak Hill is a wonderful little city tucked away in the wooded hills just south of Nashville in Davidson County, Tennessee. With a population of about 4,700 people, a median household income of $90,174 (as of the 2000 census), and an average home value of $347,000 (2005 estimated), Oak Hill is upscale yet highly accessible.
The city of Oak Hill is entirely residential, and allows no commercial zoning. However, its location only minutes from downtown Nashville makes the lack of commercial sectors refreshing and convenient. Green Hills, Nashville?s most upscale shopping area, is located just a short drive away as well ? as is Brentwood?s Cools Springs, the largest retail complex in Tennessee. Nashville?s major airport is located just 10 minutes away, and two major highways ? the I-65 and the I-440 ? serve the Oak Hill area.
The community of Oak Hill was developed in the early 1900s on what was once rich farmland just south of Nashville, Tennessee. During the Civil War, Oak Hill was also the site of the Battle of Nashville. Today, there are about 1,800 homes within the city?s 8 square miles, all comfortably settled on tree-lined streets in quiet, well-kept neighborhoods. There are several private schools within the community or just a short drive outside, and Belmont University, Vanderbilt University, and David Lipscomb University are all located close by.
Nearby Radnor Lake State Natural Area offers over 1,000 acres of pristine wooded land, a 90-acre lake where residents often enjoy canoe excursions, and miles of hiking trails perfect for tranquil nature walks. An abundance of wildlife calls this area home, and visitors can expect to see beavers, otters, and muskrats hard at work (or play) around the lake, while bobcat and deer roam the wooded areas.
