The city of Forest Hills is a private haven situated between the communities of Belle Meade and Oak Hill in Tennessee’s Davidson County. The lovely rolling hills unique to Middle Tennessee offer residents wonderful views of Nashville’s city lights. Tree-lined streets, quiet and safe neighborhoods, and an upscale lifestyle make Forest Hills a popular real estate destination for native Tennesseans and newcomers alike. Many of Forest Hills’ approximately 5,000 residents bear the names of famous Tennesseans from the 1800s and 1900s – including Hunt, Williams, Morgan, Vaughn, and Cotton, to name a few. Forest Hills has also been home to United States senators past and present, as well as top executives in every field. The average income for a household in Forest Hills was $124,845 as of the 2000 census.
In 2003, the average price of a Forest Hills home was about $503,000. Most homes in the community were constructed before 1960, although there are a few master-planned communities to choose from. The community’s population grew by 11% during the 1990s, and it is estimated that it increased another 10% between 2000 and 2005. Forest Hills’ popularity stems from not only its own tranquil appeal and beautiful properties but from its proximity to the bright lights of Nashville – otherwise known as Music City USA, and home of many of Tennessee’s largest corporations. Most Forest Hills homes are no more than 8 miles from downtown, and commuting times for residents are generally short.
In Forest Hills itself, as well as in nearby Belle Meade, Brentwood, and Green Hills, there are numerous opportunities for shopping, entertainment, dining, and outdoor recreation. In Nashville itself, you’ll find everything you’d expect from a city called Music City USA: exciting nightlife, live music venues galore, a burgeoning theater district, and restaurants to cater to every palate. As far as outdoor recreation, Forest Hills residents enjoy the use of Radnor Lake State Natural Area, a favorite destination for runners, hikers, and bikers. The Warner Parks offer urban retreats virtually unchanged since their creation in 1927, with old-growth hardwoods and walking trails as well as golf courses, a nature center, and a model-airplane flight field.
Forest Hills homes are also close to several fine schools including Vanderbilt University, David Lipscomb University, and Belmont University. Area medical facilities include Baptist Hospital, the Saint Thomas Hospital, and the Centennial Medical Complex.
